Custom MIM Hardware

Each band is fitted with custom-designed Metal Injection Moulded buckle and lugs. Sharp industrial details and high-tolerance fits in industry-leading 316 stainless steel — marine-grade corrosion resistance.

Aniline Brilliance

Danish leather aniline dyed to achieve deep, brilliant colours without losing the natural grain. Premium aesthetic that maintains the "naked" authenticity of the hide — each band shows unique grain character.

Engineered for Strength

5-20 kgf lateral slide-out resistance — industry-leading for leather bands. Won't accidentally release from Apple Watch lugs under arm movement, gym use, or daily activity. The MIM-tolerance hardware is what enables this.

Sustainable Source

Ecco's Danish tannery is one of the most environmentally certified leather sources in the world — byproduct hides, low-impact tanning, certified facilities. Premium leather without the sustainability question marks.

Modern Band Ecco vs Modern Band Brown/Horween

Ecco version uses Danish leather — typically more uniform colouring with subtle texture. Brown/Horween version uses Chicago Horween Co. leather — more pronounced texture and colour variation. Both develop patina; Horween's is more dramatic, Ecco's is cleaner. Pick Ecco for refined uniformity; Horween for rugged character.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I swim or shower with it?
No — leather should not be submerged. For water/sport use, switch to Nomad's Rugged Band, Sport Band, or Active Band Pro (all FKM rubber). Light sweat from daily activity is fine; pool water and chlorine will damage the leather.
What does "aniline dyed" mean?
Aniline dyes are transparent dyes that penetrate the full thickness of the leather, allowing the natural grain to show through. Other dyes are opaque pigments that sit on the surface, hiding grain character. Aniline is the premium dye process used for the most expressive leather goods.
How does the Ecco leather age?
Develops a smooth, refined patina over months of wear. Less dramatic than Horween (more uniform colour change), but still develops rich character. The aniline dye lets the natural grain features come through more visibly as the leather ages.
Why partner with Ecco?
Ecco is one of the most environmentally certified leather tanneries globally. Their byproduct sourcing, low-impact tanning processes, and Leather Working Group certifications match Nomad's sustainability priorities while delivering premium quality.
Is the slide-out resistance the same as Horween version?
Yes — 5-20 kgf rating is consistent across Nomad's leather band lineup. The MIM 316 stainless steel hardware is identical; the difference is just the leather source.
